Component Organizer

A tidy Inspector for busy GameObjects. Group components into coloured categories, fold away what you're not working on, and find the one you need in a second.

Why it exists

Fourteen components. You need one.

A real player object carries physics, colliders, controllers, renderers, audio sources and a dozen gameplay scripts. Unity lists them all in one long column, in the order you happened to add them, and you scroll past the same ten every time.

Add Component Organizer to the GameObject and make categories that match how you think: Movement, Rendering, Audio, Gameplay. Give each a colour, drop components into them, and collapse the ones you're not touching. The components themselves are untouched. Remove the organizer and everything is back exactly where it was.

Features

Coloured categories

Create, rename, recolour and reorder categories. Each one folds open and closed independently.

Two ways to add

Pick components from a searchable context menu, or switch to Drag mode and drop them straight into a category.

Hide what you're done with

Hidden components disappear from Unity's list and live inside their category instead, one click away.

Edit and import properties

Open a component's properties in a popup, compare current and prefab values, and import chosen properties from another component.

Prefab aware

Apply added components to the prefab from the organizer, and see prefab values next to the instance's own.

Undo everything

Every action, from moving a component to recolouring a category, goes through Unity's undo and redo.

Safe to remove

Remove the organizer, or use "Reveal All Components On This GameObject", and every hidden component comes back.

Materials stay visible

Hidden Mesh Renderers keep their material blocks in the Inspector, working around a long-standing Unity quirk.

Clean builds

In a player build the organizer is an inert data holder: no runtime code, no missing-script warnings.
